Actually they do have somewhat linear hierarchies, according to the people who observed wolves in their natural place, it’s just that this is not the way they attain their dominance. Dominance has to do with confidence and balance, not with beating the shit out of other wolves. A wolf will show submission if he agrees with the other wolf leading him, but alphas don’t force their alpha-ness down anyone’s throat. Alphas don’t need to fight, and don’t need to show their dominance – cause, you know, they’re alphas, and everybody else knows that. Wolves “forcing” their dominance over other wolves is, in fact, completely outdated. Overly dominant wolves can’t be alphas.

Also, if Iki is Skoll, then the fate of the world depends on his survival. If Iki went back to the other pack he could be killed. He’s doing the responsible thing here.

Something wolfaboos seem to forget is that wolves are very rough with each other. This behavior is entirely typical of a wolf pack. Jeeze wolfaboos, watch a documentary!

It does look as though Raigho took that too far, but remember. These are wolves, this is what they do. Iki’s lucky because that scolding was very mild. Some Alpha’s do actually draw blood when they scold other pack members.

The first link is showing EXACLTY what Raigho is doing, forcing the lower rank into submission.
Even if it was for food in that picture, though, as explained under the picture :

So, I do hope that some people understand, what Raigho did was his right to do and he must had to.
I do not like him, nor do I try to defend him really much, I just want to defend natural wolf behaviour.
Plus, want to make people understand that those comic wolves got some humanish treats, but are no humans, thus will act like wolves.

Iki is maybe an exception, because he is the White Spirit, though otherwise normal wolves would not care if another pack died or not =/.

No, it is just because Iki said ”I will go back, screw you all”, which he is not allowed to say nor decide on his own, because he is not the alpha wolf.
He is stepping massively over Raigho’s authority and as an alpha wolf, Raigho can’t tolerate that, so he had to force him into submission.
Take a look, for example, on our dogs … if a mother there has pups, she is doing that, too.
That is the way they are educated ^^.
So it is just normal wolf behaviour.
